CONTEXT
Amazon Music challenged students at Pratt Institute to design solutions to increase user retention for their mobile platform.
The Amazon Music x Pratt Institute Design Challenge is a yearly collaboration between Pratt Institute and Amazon Music, where the company challenges students to redesign the Amazon Music mobile application to solve the prompt they provide.
THE CHALLENGE
SOLUTION & IMPACT
A high fidelity prototype that presents a gamified and personalized user journey for Amazon Music.
A highly tailored and user-validated design that directly addresses the challenge prompt and built on feedback of our UX and Product Mentors at Amazon.
COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Competing music platforms have limited personalization and no gamification aspects.
These platforms had similarities, but no truly unique aspects that set them apart. The team also studied non-streaming applications to understand gmaification and user retention.

41.7% would use their streaming service more if it had more personalization features.

20.8% would increase their daily usage if they had access to exclusive content from artists.
